(TheRedAlertNews.com) – One of the few sure things these days, besides the sun rising from the east, is that on weekends, a Democrat-run Chicago, with all its anti-Second Amendment measures, gets ravaged by criminals committing mass shootings – as 34 people got shot there, three fatally, on Saturday and Sunday.
Over the weekend, Chicago experienced its typical surge in gun violence, according to police reports.
In one of the incidents, 15 people were injured early Sunday when a gunman opened fire into a crowd at a Halloween party in the Lawndale neighborhood.
The suspect, who reportedly shot into the group around 1 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Pulaski Road, fled on foot but was apprehended nearby, police confirmed.
A handgun was found at the scene. The victims, ranging in age from 26 to 53, included a critically injured 26-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man, both treated at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The remaining victims were in good condition across various hospitals, ABC 7 Chicago reports.
Later the same day, a 61-year-old man was shot and killed in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
The shooting, which occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on the 100 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, left the man critically injured. He was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he eventually passed away. The shooter remains at large.
In Woodlawn, a Saturday night shooting claimed the life of a cyclist. Around 9:50 p.m., the victim, whose identity was not immediately known, was riding in the 6000 block of South Champlain Avenue when shot in the neck.
He was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center. No arrests have been made in this case.
Another fatal shooting occurred early Saturday in West Pullman. Responding to gunfire around 1:40 a.m. in the 12000 block of South Halsted Street, police found a man in his 40s with gunshot wounds in a parking lot.
He had been shot in the left armpit and right thigh and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died from his injuries.
Additionally, a drive-by shooting wounded four people as they left a gathering on the Northwest Side just before 1 a.m.
In the 2000 block of North Lorel Avenue, a vehicle opened fire, injuring an 18-year-old girl critically and three men, aged 19, 22, and 27. The shooter remains at large.
