ALERT: 12 Shot, 3 Dead

( – HAPPENING NOW: Proving that a change in mayoral leadership will not quickly end deadly street violence in Chicago, it was another bloody night as the weekend got underway.

Based on the reporting of Breitbart and others, it is known that on the initial night of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s inaugural Memorial Day weekend, at least 12 individuals were victims of gun violence, with three fatalities recorded.

Local news outlet WGNTV reported that the first deadly incident was identified around 12:50 a.m. A 33-year-old male was discovered unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound to his underarm, near the 7800 block of South Seeley Avenue. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Subsequently, a 34-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound, was found on the sidewalk near the 500 block of West Surf Street. He was promptly rushed to a medical facility, where he was later pronounced dead.

A few hours later, near 3 a.m., a 26-year-old woman was fatally shot in the face while standing near the 2300 block of West 18th Street. She, too, was declared deceased at the location of the incident.

Breitbart News highlighted that Mayor Brandon Johnson’s first weekend in office witnessed 23 shooting victims, with one individual losing their life due to their injuries.

The Chicago Sun-Times provided a broader context, noting that from the start of the year on January 1, 2023, to May 26, 2023, the city of Chicago saw a total of 217 fatalities as a result of gun violence.
