ALERT: 30 Children Airlifted; 7 in Critical Condition

( – BREAKING NOW: In a frightening event in Idaho that is every parent’s worst nightmare, seven children were critically injured when a school bus crashed and overturned, as per local authorities.

The terrifying incident took place north of Boise.

The bus, filled with YMCA campers, was making its way on State Highway 55 near the town of Banks on Friday afternoon, according to Idaho State Police.

The bus was ferrying 30 campers from the Treasure Valley YMCA, ages 13 to 18. They were all airlifted to the hospital, the police reported in a news release, as a precautionary measure.

In total, 11 children sustained injuries.

The cause of the accident remains uncertain and is currently under investigation, authorities said.

The bus was returning from the Horsethief Reservoir when it crashed, according to KTVB.

The incident is “one of those things you never want to see happen,” expressed David Duro, YMCA Treasure Valley President, to the media. He added that the YMCA was attempting to reunite all the kids with their parents.

This bus was one among four vehicles employed by the summer camp program.

“Idahoans are praying for the victims of the school bus crash near Banks,” Idaho Gov. Brad Little posted on his Twitter on Friday.

“We are thankful for the first responders and medical personnel assisting in this tragedy.”
