(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a controversial and potentially dangerous shift that could risk a world war, lame-duck President Joe Biden has authorized the use of U.S.-supplied long-range missiles, specifically the ATACMS system, by Ukraine to strike within Russian borders.

The timing, with only two months left in Biden’s presidency, could have far-reaching consequences.
President Joe Biden’s unprecedented decision allows Ukrainian forces to utilize long-range missiles supplied by the U.S., marking a significant change in policy.
This comes in response to Russia’s engagement of North Korean troops in the conflict, which has raised tensions in the strategic Kursk region.
Biden’s administration has faced pressure from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Western allies to enable deeper strikes into Russian territory.
Biden, previously cautious about providing advanced weaponry to Ukraine due to potential escalations with nuclear-armed Russia, has flipped the script.
Now, the introduction of the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) potentially shifts the battlefield dynamics sharply in Ukraine’s favor.
Since the conflict began in February 2022, the U.S. has offered over $56.2 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
With President-elect Donald Trump poised to assume office soon, there’s speculation about how U.S. policy might shift in January.
Trump has pledged to limit support for Ukraine, a considerable pivot from Biden’s current stance.
Despite Biden’s prior opposition, he’s now given Ukraine permission to strike Russian positions, removing past restrictions considered to be a hurdle for Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
“President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use U.S.-provided long-range weapons inside Russia for limited strikes, according to two U.S. officials,” The New York Times writes in a report.
Congressional Republicans have shown support for easing weapon-use restrictions, bolstering Ukraine’s capability against Russia’s recent missile attacks.
Yet, the White House National Security Council has chosen not to comment on the situation, maintaining the administration’s guarded approach despite the heightened commitment.
The controversial authorization follows critical meetings with leaders from South Korea and Japan, amid revelations of Russian-North Korean military cooperation.
Zelensky, who refrains from public confirmation, insists that tangible action speaks louder than words, letting “the rockets… speak for themselves.”
“Today, many in the media are talking about the fact that we have received permission to take appropriate actions,” Zelensky said in his nightly address.
“But blows are not inflicted with words. Such things are not announced. The rockets will speak for themselves,” he added.
The deployment of ATACMS is seen as a potential game-changer, with speculation surrounding future peace negotiations.
However, critics fear this may exacerbate the situation to an unprecedented level of international conflict.
Biden to let Ukraine use US-supplied long-range missiles to hit Russian territory (initially in Kursk).
This is bound to reignite the Taurus debate in Germany just as its election campaign gets going. Scholz against, but Habeck and Merz in favour.https://t.co/9vpkWDtcLR
