(TheRedAlertNews.com) – BREAKING NOW: A citizen from Boston, Massachusetts, was charged on Tuesday with working as an agent for a foreign government, specifically the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
“Litang Liang knowingly acted and caused others to act in the United States as an agent of a foreign government, namely, the People’s Republic of China, without providing prior notification to the United States Attorney General, as required by law,” the indictment declared.
Liang was alleged to have been an agent for the People’s Republic of China since around 2018, and he continued to work for the foreign government until at least 2022.
He secretly collaborated with the CCP to create a “black list” of Chinese individuals and organizations involved in protests supporting pro-democracy activists in China, according to the Boston Globe. He worked with the Chinese Consulate located in New York, as mentioned by Fox News.
“Liang communicated with the PRC government officials – knowing them to be PRC government officials – in several ways,” the indictment said. “These included telephone calls and messages using the social media application WeChat […] All WeChat communications are stored on servers outside the United States.”
Fox News also reported that in 2019, Liang co-founded the New England Alliance for the Peaceful Unification of China, a pro-PRC and anti-Taiwanese independence organization. He served as vice president of the organization until at least 2021.
