ALERT: Mass Shooting at July 4th Parade; Multiple Dead and Wounded

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – BREAKING NOW: There has been a mass shooting incident at a July 4th Parade in Highland Park, Illinois, approximately 25 miles north of downtown Chicago, Illinois.

UPDATE: Current reports from the scene indicate that six people are dead and dozens are wounded.

According to Fox News:

“Witnesses say crowds fled the sound of gunfire, and others saw at least five bloodied people lying on the ground and another under a blanket, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

“The number of victims remains unclear. Police have reportedly requested a canine unit to assist in finding the suspect. The suspect remains at large.”

According to a statement just issued by the city:

“16 people have been transferred to the hospital; 5 individuals are confirmed deceased. This is an active incident. All individuals are advised to shelter in place. Law enforcement agencies are searching for the suspect; evidence of a firearm has been recovered. Numerous law enforcement officers are responding and have secured a perimeter around downtown Highland Park.”

Reports indicate that police are currently patrolling the parade area with rifles looking for the suspect or suspects.
