According to the mayor of Raleigh, North Carolina, five people, including an off-duty police officer, were killed in a shooting last night.
According to WRAL, the local news station, two other people were injured, including a Raleigh K-9 unit officer, who suffered injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
The Associated Press indicates the killer opened fire on numerous individuals along the popular Neuse River Greenway.
After an hours-long manhunt, the suspect was surrounded by police inside a home and eventually taken into custody.
The suspect is a male teenager.
The mass shooting in North Carolina came almost simultaneously as the jury announcing its decision not to impose the death penalty on the killer in the Parkland school massacre that killed 14 children and three adults.
