According to multiple sources, Thomas entered Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, on Friday after experiencing “flu-like symptoms.”
Thomas, one of the most conservative members of the Supreme Court, is 73 years old and has been on the court since 1991.
Thomas is being treated for an “infection” with antibiotics and is expected to remain in the hospital for several more days.
The court did not explain why it kept Thomas’s hospitalization secret for several days and did not disclose the type of infection the justice is battling.
