Biden Outlaws WHAT?

( – Joe Biden has sparked fresh outrage after proposed new US Energy Department rules provide for a crackdown on home water heaters that would affect millions of Americans.

The new draft Department of Energy (DOE) rules unveiled Friday contain much more severe efficiency requirements for water heaters, with the Biden administration demanding heat pump technology for most electric water heaters and condensing technology for gas-fired ones, The New York Post reports.

The proposed regulatory changes come weeks after the administration already stirred a “firestorm” over stove regulations and New York State enacted a gas stove ban for the first time in the nation.

Biden’s Energy Department seeks to boost the minimum efficiency criteria for “gas-fired water heaters, oil-fired storage water heaters, and gas-fired instantaneous water heaters” under the plan to enter force by 2029.

The administration claims that the new water heater regulations will reduce CO2 emissions by 501 million metric tons in the next 30 years and save Americans $198 billion over that period, while all of its efficiency measures would save the nation $570 billion.

“Today’s actions—together with our industry partners and stakeholders—improve outdated efficiency standards for common household appliances, which is essential to slashing utility bills for American families and cutting harmful carbon emissions,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm declared.

“This proposal reinforces the trajectory of consumer savings that forms the key pillar of Bidenomics and builds on the unprecedented actions already taken by this Administration to lower energy costs for working families across the nation,” she added.

Republican pundits and Twitter users from the general public alike have slammed the new Biden regulations.

“Leave us alone. These products already exist in the free market. Consumers should decide whether the upfront cost of a heat-pump water heater is worth the possible long-term savings. In many cases, the monthly savings never make up for the upfront cost of the equipment,” US Rep. Thomas Massive (R-KY) tweeted.

“First, they came for your gas stoves. Then they came for your dishwashers. Next, they came for your water heaters and air conditioners. Now the Biden apparatchiks are coming for your portable gas generators,” wrote Forbes contributor David Blackmon.
