Biden Reacts To Russian Invasion

( – On Thursday, President Joe Biden condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin after he announced Russia would be carrying out a military operation in Ukraine. This following weeks of denial by Putin that he had plans to attack the nation.

In tweets on Wednesday, moments after Russia carried out a land, air, and sea attack on Ukraine, Biden stated, “The world will hold Russia accountable.”

Bide continued saying, “President Putin’s actions demand a firm response. That’s why we’re imposing full blocking sanctions on VEB and Russia’s military bank, cutting off Russia from western financing, imposing sanctions on elites, and more,” adding that the U.S. and its Allies “will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates.”

Biden also urged international allies to respond before stating that Russia was solely responsible “for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way.”

In a separate tweet via the White House, the President called the attack on Ukraine “unprovoked and unjustified,” saying the “entire world” prayers are with the people of Ukraine “as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces.”

Biden added that he would be “monitoring the situation from the White House” and would receive “regular updates” from his national security team. He then revealed that on Thursday he would be meeting with “G7 counterparts in the morning,” following which he would be speaking “to the American people to announce the further consequences the United States and our Allies and partners will impose on Russia for this needless act of aggression against Ukraine and global peace and security.”

Biden also said he would also be coordinating with “NATO Allies to ensure a strong, united response, that deters any aggression against the Alliance.”
