(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a brand-new humiliation for Joe Biden and victory for Second Amendment rights, the embattled 80-year-old president suffered staggering defeats in both chambers of Congress and is being forced to sign legislation protecting funds for school hunting and archery programs.
Breitbart News reports that Biden is now “signaling” his intention to sign the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act.
Republican US Rep. Mark Green of Tennessee sponsored the legislation. It was passed unanimously in the Senate and almost unanimously in the House of Representatives.
The 424-1 vote in the House saw a single Democrat lawmaker – US Rep. Veronica Escobar of Texas – declare herself against the pro-Second Amendment rights bill.
“[The bill] prevents the Department of Education from blocking federal funding to public schools for hunting, shooting, archery and other outdoor programs,” the Sportsmen’s Alliance, an Ohio-based nonprofit, said in a statement on the bill’s Senate vote.
At the end of July, reports were that the Biden administration sought to block funding for hunting and archery programs in schools based on the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the 2022 Bi-Partisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA).
Its justification was that the two laws banned funding for schools if their programs featured certain weapons.
The BSCA, Biden’s gun control law from last year passed with help from Republican US Senator John Cornyn of Texas, changed an ESEA clause.
The amendment banned any act providing dangerous weapons or funding “training in the use of a dangerous weapon,” Breitbart points out.
It notes that the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act makes an amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act in a way that prevents the Department of Education from using the 1965 law to stop funding for hunting or archery programs for students nationwide.
According to the report, Biden’s DE will no longer be able to “piggyback on the BSCA for the purpose” of blocking money for school hunting or archery programs.
A Fox News report informs the White House has confirmed Biden will sign the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act.
“The President supports a legislative solution to ensure ESEA funding can be used for valuable school enrichment programs, such as hunter safety and archery,” said Stefanie Feldman, the director of the White House’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention, at the end of last week.
