(TheRedAlertNews.com) – President Joe Biden has disclosed to former President Barack Obama his intention to run for reelection in 2024.
“[Biden] wants to run, and he’s clearly letting everyone know,” a source told The Hill.
According to that same source, Biden currently believed that he is the only candidate capable of beating former President Donald Trump if he too was to run in the next election.
“I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump. I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic Party who can beat Trump, and that’s the biggest factor,” the source noted.
Still, Biden’s prospects for winning in 2024 are doubted, considering the low approval rates he has been facing in the last year. According to the latest Quinnipiac University poll, Biden’s approval rate has dropped to 33%. This is the lowest they have been during this presidency.
Trump has so far only hinted about running again for the White House. Notably, last month he told a crowd, “we may have to run again.”
“In 2024, we are going to take back that beautiful, beautiful White House,” Trump said. “I wonder who will do that. I wonder. I wonder.”
According to the Wall Street Journal’s polling, the match would be close if the two were to face each other again. Currently, the polls show it would be a tie.
“I’m a great respecter of fate,” Biden said during an interview with ABC. “Fate has intervened in my life many, many times. If I’m in the health I am in now, if I’m in good health, then, in fact, I would run again.”
