(TheRedAlertNews.com) – A leftist operative has sent shivers down Democrats’ spines by declaring that Joe Biden’s “passing and death” is “imminent,” which is agitating the party’s voters.
The outspoken comments about the “age and viability” of the oldest president in US history came from Sharon Sweda, who leads the Democratic Party in Lorain County, Ohio, in an interview with The Washington Post.
“He is in a period of his life where passing and death is imminent,” the Democrat said of the 80-year-old Biden, who is seeking a second White House term.
At the same time, she made it clear she was putting him in the same age boat as former President Donald Trump, 77.
“We are all on a ticking clock. But when you’re at his age or at Trump’s age, that clock is ticking a little faster, and that’s a concern for voters,” Sweda added.
A report by The Daily Caller ties her comments to the results from a growing number of public opinion polls showing that Democrat voters not only worry about Biden’s age but are also afraid that the president’s lack of vitality could enable Trump to make a White House comeback in 2024.
Recent surveys show Biden and Trump practically tied in a potential 2020 rematch at the polls in November 2024.
It is noted that there have been discussions among leftist pundits the president should abandon his reelection bid against the backdrop of the impeachment inquiry against him launched last week by House Republicans and the US Justice Department’s indictment of First Son Hunter Biden on gun felony charges.
“The worst-case scenario is we get past the nominating process with President Biden as the nominee, and then he’s no longer able to continue on as the nominee,” an anonymous Democrat lawmaker told The Washington Post.
“That’s the nightmare scenario for Democrats,” the legislator added.
Some presidential candidates have demanded mental competency tests for elderly politicians, with former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley calling for cognitive competency tests for anyone over 75.
“Congress has now become the most privileged nursing home in the country,” Haley told a Republican candidate event in Iowa on Sunday.
“Failing a mental competency test would not result in removal. It is about transparency,” she asserted.
