(TheRedAlertNews.com) – The far-left, Marxist Black Lives Matter movement, known for urban terror, worsening racial relations, and misusing its donations, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week by launching a “Defund the Police Week of Action.”
Earlier this week, the Black Lives Matter – Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF) published a digital ad “renewing 2020 rallying cries for defunding police departments,” the left-leaning Associated Press news agency reports.
BLMGNF is also asking elected officials nationwide to sponsor a draft proclamation declaring July 13 “Black Lives Matter Day.”
“As we continue our push to defund the police, invest in Black communities and reimagine safety in our communities, we need our elected officials to focus on the people, not police,” BLM Foundation board member D’Zhane Parker declared in a statement.
“The safest places around the world don’t have more police, more jails, more prisons, or harsher sentences. They have better access to economic opportunities, quality education, stable housing, and health care,” she claimed.
AP points out that BLM was founded in 2013 as a reaction to the defendant’s acquittal in the fatal shooting that claimed the life of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
“Martin was one of the earliest symbols of a movement that now wields influence in politics, law enforcement and broader conversations about racial progress in and outside the US,” AP writes.
Various BLM subgroups and activists use the anniversary to issue renewed calls for a “renewed push to defund police departments.”
The BLM’s 10th birthday comes after the recent Supreme Court rulings that “stymied” President Joe Biden’s $400 million plan for student loan relief and banned affirmative action in college admissions.
According to “prominent movement activist” Melina Abdullah, the Supreme Court’s decisions mean that the “need for BLM’s existence couldn’t be more clear.”
“What this movement moment means is that we have to absolutely redouble our efforts and redouble our commitment to making Black lives matter,” said Abdullah, the head of BLM Grassroots Inc., a collective of organizers.
“Ten years in, we’re getting a glimpse at what would happen if there were no Black Lives Matter. We’re not just going to fight when it’s popular, but we’re going to fight because we need to fight,” she added.
