(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In unpleasant news for Donald Trump and Republicans, the presidential campaign of Kamala Harris is currently riding a wave of optimism after the Democrat National Convention, buoyed further by impressive fundraising results of $540 million.
A memo released on Sunday from the campaign highlighted a staggering $540 million raised since Harris announced her candidacy slightly over a month ago, coinciding with President Joe Biden’s decision to not seek re-election, The Washington Examiner reports.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chairwoman of the Harris campaign, detailed in the memo that a significant surge in donations occurred around the time of Harris’s speech at the DNC on Thursday.
“Just before Vice President Harris’ acceptance speech Thursday night, we officially crossed the $500 million mark,” O’Malley Dillon was quoted as saying in the memo reported by the Associated Press.
“Immediately after her speech, we saw our best fundraising hour since launch day,” she added.
Before President Biden withdrew from the race on July 21, fundraising efforts among Democrats had notably slowed, as Biden’s polling numbers fell behind those of former President Donald Trump.
However, Biden’s departure seemed to catalyze a resurgence in fundraising vigor.
In terms of monthly fundraising performance, the restructured Harris campaign—evolving from the previous Biden campaign—reported raising $310 million in July alone, bringing their total cash on hand to $377 million.
In comparison, the Trump campaign disclosed raising $139 million for the same period, with a cash reserve of $327 million.
Furthermore, the campaign memo outlined substantial advertising commitments: $150 million allocated for August and an additional $370 million planned for after Labor Day leading up to Election Day.
With the election 72 days away, both campaigns are anticipated to intensify their fundraising and spending activities. Early voting is set to commence in several states starting next month.
The electoral contest between Trump and Harris is shaping up to be highly competitive, with current polling in pivotal swing states suggesting a closely contested battle for the required 270 electoral votes.
