BOMBSHELL: Trump Against THIS Abortion Ban!

DONALD TRUMP

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a bombshell development, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump declared himself against the six-week abortion ban in GOP-led Florida.

Trump announced on Thursday his intention to oppose Florida’s proposed constitutional amendment that would overturn the state’s six-week abortion ban, Newsmax reports.

In a detailed discussion with the Daily Mail, Trump articulated his belief that the six-week timeframe is insufficient, advocating for a more extended period.

“Well, I do know how I will vote, but I do want more than six weeks,” he stated during the interview conducted at his Mar-a-Lago residence.

“I want more than six weeks. I think six weeks is a mistake. And I’ll be expressing that soon, but I want more than six weeks. And in Florida, we have a six-week program, and that’s what I believe that you’re voting on, and I think it should be more than six weeks,” the GOP presidential nominee elaborated.

However, following the interview, Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign national press secretary, clarified his remarks.

She emphasized that the former president had not explicitly disclosed his voting intentions regarding the ballot initiative.

“President Trump has not yet said how he will vote on the ballot initiative in Florida, he simply reiterated that he believes six weeks is too short,” Leavitt explained in a formal statement.

Trump’s reticence on a firm stance concerning Amendment 4, which he previously critiqued in September by labeling it a “terrible mistake” for Governor Ron DeSantis to endorse, reflects the intricate politics surrounding abortion policies post the landmark Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.

This ruling has thrust the onus onto states to determine their abortion regulations, resulting in a varied landscape where predominantly Republican-led states have enacted stringent restrictions, whereas Democrat-majority states have fortified protections.

This patchwork of laws significantly impacts approximately twenty-five million women of childbearing age who now reside in states with more restrictive access to abortion services than was the case prior to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Trump has openly discussed the political dimensions of abortion, suggesting that the Supreme Court’s decision offers conservatives leverage to negotiate tougher restrictions.

Nevertheless, he has also acknowledged the potential political repercussions, noting that the aggressive pursuit of abortion restrictions likely disadvantaged the Republican Party in the 2022 midterm elections.

He asserts that Republican candidates must improve their communication regarding this contentious issue.
