(TheRedAlertNews.com) – BREAKING NOW: The New York State appeals court has dismissed a $250 million lawsuit against Ivanka Trump, filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The lawsuit alleged that Ivanka committed business fraud during her time with the Trump Organization.
The panel of five appellate judges determined on Tuesday that the claims by James against the former President’s daughter were no longer valid under the state’s statute of limitations. Additionally, they noted that the more recent misconduct allegations happened after Ivanka left the family business to assist her father in his White House duties.
The court document stated: “The allegations against defendant Ivanka Trump do not support any claims that accrued after February 6, 2016. Thus, all claims against her should have been dismissed as untimely.”
Furthermore, the court decided that James can’t pursue lawsuits over claims originating before July 13, 2014, or February 6, 2016, depending on the person being sued.
In September 2022, James filed a lawsuit against the Trump Organization, former President Donald Trump, and his three oldest children — Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric. She alleged that they had deceived banks, insurance companies, and others about the true value of the former President’s assets. These include various golf courses and his Mar-a-Lago resort.
The lawsuit seeks $250 million in damages from the Trump family and aims to prohibit them from conducting business in New York. While the charges against Ivanka Trump have been dropped, the lawsuit will continue against the other defendants. However, there is potential for the case to be further reduced.
Reacting to the decision, a spokesperson for the Trump family told Fox News Digital, “The Appellate Division decision today represents the first step towards ending a case that should have never been filed. The correct application of the law will now limit appropriately the previously unlimited reach of the Attorney General.”
A representative from James’ office responded by stating that there still exists “a mountain of evidence that shows Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization falsely and fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for significant economic gain.” They added, “Those facts haven’t changed. This decision allows us to hold him accountable for that fraud, and we intend to do so.”
The former President has vehemently denied any wrongdoing. He argues that the lawsuit is politically driven as James is a Democrat, and he has even accused her of being “racist.”
The trial is slated to commence on October 2.
