(TheRedAlertNews.com) – BREAKING NOW: – Just moments ago, former President Donald J. Trump was held in contempt of court by a New York state judge for failure to produce documents subpoenaed as part of the New York Attorney General’s investigation of Trump and his businesses.
Trump has been ordered to pay $10,000 per day for each day he does not produce the demanded documents.
The contempt ruling was issued by Judge Arthur Engoron, a Manhattan Supreme Court judge, following a two-hour hearing during which lawyers representing New York Attorney General Letitia James slammed Trump for not surrendering the demanded documents.
James is investigating allegations that the Trump Organization improperly manipulated various real estate assets valuations to obtain better financial terms for loans or insurance coverage and lower their taxes.
Even though Trump was not present at the hearing, the judge spoke to him while issuing the ruling, stating, “Mr. Trump, I know you take your business seriously, and I take mine seriously. I hereby hold you in civil contempt.”
Following the finding of contempt by the court, Attorney General James tweeted: “Today, justice prevailed. Our investigation into Donald Trump and the Trump Organization’s financial dealings will continue undeterred because no one is above the law.”
Neither Trump nor his attorneys have commented on his being held in contempt of court as of the time of publication.
