(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Prominent Republican Nikki Haley has ripped as racist one of the hosts of ABC News talk show The View, who accused Haley of hiding the fact that she is a “woman of color” by choosing to use the name “Nikki.”
Haley is the US-born daughter of Indian immigrants. She is a former Republican Governor of South Carolina and a former US Ambassador to the UN under President Donald Trump. Many believe Haley may one day be president.
Her birth certificate name is Nimarata Nikki Randhawa, but she has been called by her middle name Nikki since she was a child.
However, The View co-host Sunny Hostin made it clear she dislikes Nikki Haley using the name Nikki because, in Hostin’s opinion, it doesn’t make Haley sound Indian enough or foreign enough.
Interestingly, Hostin uses a nickname – “Sunny” – as her actual name is Asuncion Cummings Hostin.
During an episode of the show earlier this week, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin called upon conservatives to abandon Donald Trump and support other Republicans such as Nikki Haley and Liz Cheney.
“Nikki Haley the chameleon and Liz Cheney the savior… What is her actual name?” Hostin interrupted her.
“A lot of people don’t go by their actual real names,” Griffin responded.
However, Hostin kept attacking the former GOP Governor of South Carolina for failing to “embrace” her status as a woman of color.
Co-host Sara Haines then intervened in their back-and-forth to direct the conversation toward the likely contenders for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Haines scolded Sunny Hostin for attacking Nikki Haley when she herself uses a nickname.
Griffin then weighed in further by guessing that Haley chose the name Nikki to avoid discrimination as an ethnic Indian woman growing up in South Carolina.
“Some of us can be chameleons,” Hostin insisted, accusing Haley further of not embracing her heritage to “blend in.”
Nikki Haley, who is among the 2024 GOP presidential nomination hopefuls, reacted quickly on Twitter.
“Thanks for your concern, Sunny. It’s racist of you to judge my name. Nikki is an Indian name and is on my birth certificate—and I’m proud of that,” Haley commented.
“What’s sad is the left’s hypocrisy towards conservative minorities. By the way, last I checked, Sunny isn’t your birth name,” the high-profile Republican added.
