(TheRedAlertNews.com) – As the battle between the pro-life and pro-choice movements over abortion continues to rage across the country, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — a probable Republican presidential candidate in the near future — struck a blow for the pro-life movement by signing legislation that outlaws abortions in Florida after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
According to a press release issued by the governor’s office:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill Thursday banning abortions after 15 weeks. The legislation makes no exceptions for rape or incest.
“House Bill 5 protects babies in the womb who have beating hearts, who can move, who can taste, who can see, and who can feel pain,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Life is a sacred gift worthy of our protection, and I am proud to sign this great piece of legislation which represents the most significant protections for life in the state’s modern history.”
“Life is precious and children are a God-given gift,” said Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez. “That is why House Bill 5 is so important, as it provides added protections for the unborn child. Governor DeSantis and I remain steadfast in our commitment to defending the sanctity of innocent human life and protecting the unborn.”
