(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a seismic shift, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to eliminate its scientific research program, threatening over 1,000 specialized jobs.

The move is part of Trump’s broader commitment to reducing the size of government and increasing efficiency, including cutting the EPA’s budget by 65%.

The agency’s plan to cut its scientific research program could result in up to 1,155 scientists and specialized staff being removed from federal payrolls.

These employees, including chemists, biologists, and toxicologists, represent about 75% of the research program’s current workforce.

The initiative is part of EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s efforts to streamline the agency and reduce excessive government spending.

Under the proposal, the Office of Research and Development, which currently has 1,540 positions, would be dissolved, and some staff would be reassigned to other departments within the agency.

This restructuring aims to reduce redundancy and consolidate operations to achieve greater efficiency in the EPA’s mission.

EPA spokeswoman Molly Vaseliou emphasized that the changes are not yet finalized and that the agency is considering employee input.

“We are committed to enhancing our ability to deliver clean air, water and land for all Americans,” Vaseliou affirmed.

“While no decisions have been made yet, we are actively listening to employees at all levels to gather ideas on how to increase efficiency and ensure the EPA is as up to date and effective as ever,” she added.

The restructuring plan has been presented to the White House for review as part of the administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.

Moreover, spending items over $50,000 now require approval from Elon Musk’s newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), ensuring taxpayer dollars are being used wisely.

As expected, liberal lawmakers have already begun criticizing the plan. Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) claimed:

“EPA cannot meet its legal obligation to use the best available science without (the Office of Research and Development) and that’s the point, are putting their polluter buddies’ bottom lines over the health and safety of Americans.”

Such criticisms ignore the fact that many EPA regulations have placed excessive burdens on American businesses without providing proportional environmental benefits.

Ultimately, the EPA’s restructuring represents a significant step toward fulfilling President Trump’s promises to drain the swamp and reduce the federal government’s overreach.

By cutting unnecessary positions and streamlining operations, the administration is working to create a more efficient government that serves the American people without imposing excessive regulations or wasting taxpayer dollars.
