(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Exposing the dangers U.S. citizens face abroad, the whole country has been left in shock as an American YouTuber has been murdered in the Philippines.
26-year-old American content creator Elliot Eastman was kidnapped from his home in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte province, on October 17.
Four armed men disguising themselves as police officers entered Eastman’s home by force, where he lived with his Muslim Filipina wife, Karisha Jala.
The attackers shot Eastman twice when he resisted, then dragged him onto a motorboat to dump his body at sea.
The Philippine National Police, with the help of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, launched an investigation into Eastman’s disappearance.
Despite extensive search efforts, authorities have been unable to locate Eastman’s remains, leaving his family in agony.
Police Regional Office 9 spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ramoncelio Sawan stated, “We are constrained to believe he has died. All of the information we have points to this conclusion.”
The southern Philippines, in particular, has a long history of kidnappings targeting foreigners, often carried out by Islamic extremist groups like Abu Sayyaf.
Eastman himself had expressed concerns about his safety in the region. In one of his videos, he said, “As long as I’m here, my life is still at risk, you know.”
The investigation has led to the arrest of three suspects, while three others remain at large.
Additionally, three individuals linked to a kidnap-for-ransom group were killed in a clash with authorities on November 12, further implicating them in Eastman’s kidnapping.
This case underscores the importance of paying attention to State Department travel advisories and being extremely cautious when visiting or living in high-risk areas.
