“Lizzy Musi, beloved drag racing star, has passed away following a courageous cancer battle. A longtime friend of the DI family, she inspired many through her on-track and off-track battles,” the racing publication stated.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Lizzy’s family and friends,” they added.
A relative close to the family disclosed that Lizzy died on Thursday at her residence in North Carolina. She had been valiantly battling breast cancer for several years, consistently striving to conquer the disease, as reported by TMZ.
Musi’s presence on Discovery’s “Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings” had earned her significant acclaim within the automotive racing community.
Her rise to prominence began in 2018 when the popular series, which showcases the endeavors and competitive spirit of drag racers, first premiered.
She regularly appeared with her father, Pat Musi, himself a celebrated figure in the sport and an 8-time PDRA Pro Street World Champion. Their shared passion for drag racing was well noted.
Her prowess on the racetrack was historic, as she became the first woman to claim victory at a “No Prep Kings” event during the show’s second season.
The timeline of her diagnosis with breast cancer remains uncertain, however, she revealed to her followers in 2023 that the cancer had advanced, affecting her lymph nodes and liver, as she confided to friends.
Musi candidly shared her experiences with cancer, keeping her followers informed about her health and how the illness impacted her during treatment, TMZ reports.
In her personal life, Musi was romantically involved with Jeffrey Earnhardt, a descendant of the iconic NASCAR family as the grandson of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and the nephew of Dale Jr.
The couple had been featured in photographs together just weeks before her untimely demise.
Tributes to Lizzy Musi have flooded social media platforms, with fans, friends, and family members expressing their grief and commemorating her life by recalling her numerous racing triumphs, in tribute to her enduring legacy.
