Fauci Attacks Musk: Twitter Is a ‘Cesspool of Interaction’

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Dr. Anthony Fauci, America’s outgoing highest-ranking virologist, has snubbed Elon Musk’s call for him to be prosecuted while attacking the billionaire’s social media platform Twitter as a “cesspool of interaction.”

Fauci, the face of the Biden administration’s COVID-19 pandemic response, is retiring at the end of this month as the chief White House medical adviser and the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which he led for 38 years.

81-year-old Fauci is presently the highest-paid employee of the federal government.

Republicans have attacked him for hiding US-funded gain of function research with bat coronaviruses in Wuhan, China, which may have helped cause the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk wrote on the platform that Fauci deserved to be prosecuted – and he did it in a way mocking transgender pronouns.

“My pronouns are prosecute/Fauci,” the billionaire wrote.

“I don’t respond to Musk,” Fauci reacted.

As cited by Newsmax, he was speaking on the podcast of Barack Obama’s former strategist David Axelrod, which will be released Thursday.

“I don’t pay any attention to [Musk] because that’s merely a distraction,” Fauci said.

“And if you get drawn into that, and I have to be honest, that cesspool of interaction, there’s no value added to that. It doesn’t help anything,” he added, referring to Twitter.

Earlier this week, Axelrod appeared on CNN to discuss his interview with the outgoing chief White House medical adviser.

“Fauci was eager to not engage with Musk directly. But he did say there has been an erosion [in public discourse], and he lays that on social media,” told the CNN program “Out Front.”

Fauci has been attacked first and foremost by GOP Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who has accused the NIAID head of lying to Congress about his agency’s role in funding bat coronavirus research at the lab in China’s Wuhan.

Documents made public in 2021 show Fauci’s agency and its parent, the National Institutes of Health, funneled grants to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Communist China, as reported by Newsweek.

Richard Ebright, a chemistry professor at Rutgers University, told the outlet Fauci lied to Congress by denying funding “the research that may have made the virus more contagious and deadly.”

“The documents make it clear that assertions by NIH Director Francis Collins, and the NIAID Director, Anthony Fauci, that the NIH did not support gain-of-function research or potential pandemic pathogen enhancement in Wuhan are untruthful,” Ebright said.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, the Biden administration slammed Elon Musk’s call for Fauci’s prosecution.

“They are disgusting, and they are divorced from reality, and we will continue to call that out and be very clear about that,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
