(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a disgraceful attempt to evade responsibility for the COVID-19 pandemic excesses of the US government, Dr. Anthony Fauci has told Congress that he “knew nothing” of compromising actions taken by Dr. David Morens, his former adviser.
During his congressional testimony, Fauci, the former White House Chief Medical Advisor, took steps to clarify his relationship with Dr. David Morens, claiming he had no involvement or knowledge concerning Morens’s attempts to circumvent transparency by using a personal email account for official purposes.
Dr. Morens, who had been a senior adviser to Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), utilized a private email to communicate about the origins of Covid-19 with Peter Daszak, president of EcoHealth Alliance.
It was revealed through recently disclosed emails that Morens deleted these correspondences to avoid them being accessed through the Freedom of Information Act, National Review reports.
Fauci asserted his ignorance of Morens’s activities.
“With respect to his recent testimony before this subcommittee, I knew nothing of Dr. Moren’s actions regarding Dr. Daszak, EcoHealth, or his emails,” he said.
He alleged that Morens was not involved in advising him on policy matters or substantial issues at the institute.
Further distancing himself from Morens’s conduct, Fauci affirmed, “that to the best of my knowledge, I have never conducted official business using my personal email.”
As scrutiny intensified over EcoHealth Alliance and Daszak’s actions in directing NIH funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Morens took measures to shield himself from public examination.
In an email from February 2021, Morens candidly mentioned, “learned from our foia lady here how to make most emails disappear after i am foia’d but before the search starts, so I think we are all safe,” and acknowledged deleting prior emails.
In another instance, he ensured his correspondence would be redirected to his secure Gmail account to avoid FOIA detection.
When questioned about these emails in his testimony, Morens suggested his comments were made in jest, clarifying that his discussions were about personal, non-recordable correspondences.
Morens also alluded in his emails to discussions with Fauci that led him to believe NIH officials were protecting Daszak from the scrutiny surrounding the funding of gain-of-function research.
Fauci refuted this under oath, clarifying, “I may have mentioned Dr. Daszak, but I never spoke about protecting him. I don’t know where he got that, but that’s not true.”
Morens also implied the existence of a secretive communication channel with Fauci, which Fauci denied during his testimony, asserting, “There is no backchannel at NIAID.”
Amidst rigorous questioning, Fauci acknowledged that Morens might have had a conflict of interest with Daszak, though he was unaware of it at the time.
