(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In true testimony to the destructive effects of radical leftist ideology, a former student at Cornell University, previously a junior, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of threatening to shoot Jewish students.

The Chief United States District Judge, Brenda Sannes, classified Patrick Dai’s actions as a hate crime, which she declared had significantly disrupted the university environment, as reported by The Cornell Daily Sun, cited by The College Fix.

The sentence was initially projected to range from 27 to 33 months.

Nonetheless, consideration was given to Dai’s recently diagnosed autism, as his defense counsel noted, prompting Sannes to recommend a correctional facility equipped to address his mental health needs.

The reduction in sentence also reflected Dai’s previous conduct, which Judge Sannes believed showed that such online threats were wholly uncharacteristic of him, according to a report by CBS 6 Albany.

Dai expressed to Judge Sannes, “It’s all my fault,” and acknowledged his actions as “inexcusable,” expecting no leniency, CBS 6 Albany reported.

His lawyer, Lisa Peebles, plans to challenge the court’s decision, describing Dai as”  ‘the most contrite person’ she had ever represented.”

Dai had confessed in April to making online threats targeting Jewish individuals, including detailed threats to bring an assault rifle to campus and initiate a shooting at the kosher dining hall at Cornell.

Following these threats, the university police enhanced security measures for Jewish students and their organizations. Dai has been incarcerated for the past 10 months.

Peebles disclosed to the New York Post that Dai was influenced by a Cornell professor’s portrayal of the October 7 Hamas attack, which resulted in the deaths of 1,400 Israeli citizens, as “exhilarating.”

She argued that Dai’s intent was not to genuinely threaten the Jewish community but to demonstrate the malevolence of Hamas.

Following the hearing, Peebles asserted, “He is not antisemitic, he loves Jewish people.”

In a separate but related incident earlier in the year, another Cornell student, also a former White House intern, was investigated for publicly stating “ZIONISTS MUST DIE” on social media.

This investigation was criticized by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, which argued that such actions contravene Cornell’s commitment to uphold the free speech rights of students, including those expressing controversial or offensive views.
