(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a new leftist push to discredit one of the most outspoken conservatives on the US Supreme Court, Justice Clarence Thomas has once again been reported for not disclosing additional travels sponsored by a major GOP donor.
This information came to light in a statement by a prominent Democrat senator on Monday, The Hill reports.
In his communication to the lawyer of Republican donor Harlan Crow, Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-OR) pointed out that an examination of international flight logs from Customs and Border Protection uncovered that Thomas, along with his wife Virginia, undertook a round-trip flight from Hawaii to New Zealand in November 2010.
“To date, Justice Thomas has never disclosed this private jet travel on any financial disclosure forms, even though Justice Thomas has amended disclosures to reflect other international travel on Mr. Crow’s private jet,” Wyden stated.
The annual requirement for Justices includes filing financial disclosure forms that record any external income or gifts.
Although Thomas’s most recent financial disclosure was amended to include two trips financed by Crow from years past, it omitted the round-trip flights of November 2010, as noted by Wyden.
According to the report, the situation detailed in Wyden’s letter, which was first reported by The New York Times, marks yet another instance of nondisclosure by Thomas regarding trips funded by Crow.
Recently, the Senate Judiciary Committee discovered that Thomas had also failed to report three additional trips taken in 2017, 2019, and 2021 on private jets provided by Crow.
Wyden expressed significant concerns about Crow’s motives, suggesting that Crow’s “extravagant gifts” to Thomas, a public official, might be an attempt to reduce his tax liabilities.
He requested Crow’s attorney provide further details on the private jet and superyacht voyages.
Responding to these claims, a representative for Crow defended him, stating, “Mr. Crow and his businesses are in good standing with the IRS,” and emphasized that all actions were in compliance with tax laws, as confirmed by top national accounting firms.
Despite the controversies, Thomas has previously asserted that he is exempt from disclosing these trips, classifying them as personal hospitality from a close friend who has no business pending before the court, as reported by The Associated Press.
These incidents are part of a broader context of escalating critiques aimed at the Supreme Court and its Justices.
Last year, ProPublica released a series of exposés entitled “Friends of the Court,” which detailed various undisclosed luxurious trips and gifts received by Thomas and other justices, funded by billionaires like Crow.
