(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a nasty new attack against Donald Trump, Kamala Harris’s campaign has scorned his remark calling the January 6th Capitol events a “day of love.”

As Trump continues to engage in sometimes unorthodox rhetoric, Harris’s camp uses it to challenge his leadership and claims of election rigging.

During a Univision town hall, Trump described the January 6 events, where disgruntled protesters breached the U.S. Capitol, as a “day of love.”

This characterization drew significant backlash from Kamala Harris and her supporters, who criticized Trump’s stance on a pivotal moment in America’s democratic history.

Harris’s allies wasted no time condemning Trump’s remarks.

They highlighted Trump’s language, using “we” to describe the protesters, contrasting with his detached reference to law enforcement as “others.”

This framing poses a glaring spotlight on Trump’s attitudes, which Harris and her team argue undermine trust in democratic processes.

At the town hall, voter Ramiro González pressed Trump on his claims, emphasizing scrutiny and doubt that sour his narrative.

“There were no guns down there. We didn’t have guns. The others had guns, but we didn’t have guns. And when I say we, these are people that walked down — this was a tiny percentage of the overall which nobody sees and nobody, nobody shows. But that was a day of love,” Trump declared, cited by BBC News.

Moreover, Harris’s campaign took the opportunity to portray this as yet another example of Trump’s self-aggrandizing narratives, regardless of factual evidence.

Her supporters claim that the former president’s enduring stance perplexes many, as he continues to allege election fraud.

In the run-up to the 2024 election, Trump maintains a strategy of stirring his base with hardline rhetoric, including his repeated false claims about the election and his dismissive remarks about climate change during the same town hall, asserting his environmental awards as credentials.

His approach, however, may further alienate moderate voters critical for victory.

“I get awards, environmental awards, for the way I build it for the water, the way I use the water, the sand, the mixing of the sand and the water, I mean, many different, but I’ve had many awards over the years for environmental, the way I’ve built because you know about building, that’s what you do,” Trump said, cited by The Guardian.
