(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In what seems like a quest to win the White House at any cost, Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris seems to be shifting her stances without any regard to principle, causing critics to slam her as a hypocrite.
Harris is realigning her political stance towards centrism as she prepares to challenge former President Donald Trump in the upcoming November election, with a newfound support for funding the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, AP reports, cited by Newsmax.
During last week’s Democratic National Convention, Harris announced her intention to endorse a Senate-negotiated border security bill from earlier this year.
This comprehensive bill proposes a total expenditure of $118 billion, which includes a substantial $20 billion dedicated to enhancing border security.
“How much longer will the mainstream media allow Kamala Harris to hide and use staff to speak on her behalf? It’s DAY 37 of ZERO interviews and Kamala’s anonymous campaign sources are now claiming she supports President Trump’s border wall — this is a preposterous and false claim. Kamala’s RECORD proves she is pro-open border. She called the wall ‘un-American,’ a ‘waste of taxpayer money,’ ‘medieval,’ and said it isn’t going to ‘stop’ illegal immigration,” stated Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s national press secretary, vehemently opposing this new position.
“As a senator, Kamala tried to block President Trump’s construction of the border wall. As Border Czar, Kamala Harris halted construction of the border wall. Kamala’s ACTIONS speak much louder than the WORDS of the anonymous staff she is cowering behind,” Leavitt criticized further.
This apparent shift in Harris’s stance on the border wall is part of a broader strategic adjustment in her policy positions, which now also includes modifications to her approaches on Medicare and fracking, aiming to attract moderate and independent voters.
In February, members of both the House and Senate from the Republican party expressed their opposition to the $118 billion bill, which also aimed to provide aid to Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific region, including Taiwan.
This bill was the result of four months of diligent negotiations involving Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), and the White House.
“It requires the Trump border wall,” Senator Lankford revealed in a discussion with Axios.
He detailed that the bill explicitly mandates adherence to the specifications set during the Trump administration regarding the wall’s construction, including its location, height, and design.
According to an Axios report citing Lankford’s office, the proposed bill significantly reduces the funding for the wall to $650 million, a sharp decrease from the $18 billion requested by Trump in 2018.
Harris’s team clarified that the border proposal doesn’t introduce any new funding for the construction of the wall; it merely extends the timeline for utilizing the funds that had been previously allocated during the last year of Trump’s presidency.
