(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Happening Now: While performing volunteer work with her husband in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., Vice President Kamala Harris was asked by a reporter what the next step is for federal voting rights legislation.
You can watch the video of the question and her answer further down this post.
As most Americans know, that legislation appears to be dead in the water because at least two Democrat Senators have said they will not vote to cast aside the filibuster rule. The Democrats don’t have the 60 votes needed with the filibuster rule in play.
Still, when asked what’s next, Harris stated:
“To keep working on it. I’m making calls; I’m meeting with folks. We’re not going to give up. You’ve heard me say that before and I mean it. This is too important. This is not about…This is literally about the future of our country, in terms of its democracy. And we have to remain deeply committed to getting this done and seeing it through. However long it takes…The United States Senate has the opportunity, and I dare say the responsibility, to pass these bills through Congress so the president can sign them. The resistance to doing that will not deter us from getting it done.”
Please watch the video below and share your thoughts and opinions about what Harris said by emailing [email protected]. Do you think she and President Joe Biden will succeed or fail in their attempt to pass federal voting rights legislation?
