Lara Trump Slams GOP Senate Candidate (Video)

( – In an unwelcome development for Republicans, a conflict has erupted between the Republican National Committee (RNC) Co-Chair Lara Trump and former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, who is now running as a moderate Republican candidate for the US Senate.

Lara Trump has slammed Hogan over Hogan’s statement urging Americans to accept the outcome of former President Trump’s hush money criminal trial, regardless of the verdict.

Lara Trump, who is married to the former president’s son, expressed her discontent during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

She argued that not opposing a trial she deemed unjust, which in her view, targeted Donald Trump uniquely, was unworthy of respect.

“I think anybody who’s not speaking up in the face of really something that should never again have seen the light of day, a trial that would never have been brought against any other person aside from Donald Trump, doesn’t deserve the respect of anyone,” she stated, as cited by The Hill.

“He doesn’t deserve the respect of anyone in the Republican Party at this point and, quite frankly, anybody in America, if that’s the way you feel. That’s very upsetting to hear that,” she added.

The controversy arose shortly after former President Trump was convicted on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records to obscure a scheme aimed at suppressing damaging information during the 2016 presidential campaign.

In contrast, Hogan had advocated for civility and legal respect on the social platform X just before the guilty verdict was delivered.

“Regardless of the result, I urge all Americans to respect the verdict and the legal process,” he wrote.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the rule of law, especially during a period marked by intense political division.

“At this dangerously divided moment in our history, all leaders — regardless of party — must not pour fuel on the fire with more toxic partisanship. We must reaffirm what has made this nation great: the rule of law,” Hogan articulated.

Reacting to Hogan’s stance, Trump adviser Chris LaCivita bluntly remarked, “You just ended your campaign.”

Hogan’s comments notably diverged from the prevalent sentiments within the Republican Party, which largely portrayed the trial as politically biased. Many party members criticized the legitimacy of the proceedings.

Furthermore, when questioned about the RNC’s continued support for Hogan’s Senate campaign, Lara Trump evaded giving a direct answer.

“What I will tell you is that we, of course, want to win as a party, but that is a shame. And I think he should have thought long and hard before he said that publicly,” she concluded.
