(TheRedAlertNews.com) – According to a poll, only 39% of likely American voters would like to see Vice President Kamala Harris remain President Joe Biden’s running mate in his expected candidacy in the 2024 election.
According to a new public opinion survey by Rasmussen Reports, 48% of Americans would prefer it if Harris wasn’t Biden’s running mate.
At the same time, “only” 39% would like her to remain on the president’s ticket, while 13% were not sure,” Breitbart News reported.
President Joe Biden is widely expected to announce his reelection bid in a speech over the coming days or weeks.
The Rasmussen poll found that, in terms of party affiliation, only the majority of the Democrat voters – 63% – favor Harris remaining a vice-presidential candidate.
At the same time, most Republicans and independents are against such prospects. More than two-thirds – or 68% – of the GOP voters would rather not see Kamala Harris on Biden’s reelection ticket.
Among independent voters, 51% think she shouldn’t be up for reelection, 32% believe she should remain as a vice presidential candidate, and 17% said they weren’t sure.
According to the poll results, “only” 43% of potential American voters viewed Kamala Harris’s work as vice president favorably, including 19% who saw it “very favorably.” At the same time, 55% said they viewed her performance unfavorably.
The poll of Rasmussen Reports was conducted from January 31 until February 2 among 900 respondents. It has a margin of error of three percentage points, with a 95% confidence level.
After last month Biden marked the end of the first half of his term, a Washington Post report said some Democrat figures have made clear their doubts Harris would be able to manage the president’s job if she had to take over. Joe Biden would be 86 at the end of a potential second term.
“Every fiber in my body wants her to be president; everything I’ve ever fought for is for someone like her to be president,” a Democrat strategist from South Carolina was quoted as saying.
“I think she’s a good person with a good heart who can lead the country. But I don’t know that the people who have to make that happen feel that way right now. I don’t know that she has what it takes to get over the hump in our present environment,” the Democrat strategist elaborated.
President Joe Biden has yet to make his candidacy for the 2024 election official.
Shortly before New Year’s, while on vacation with family members in the Virgin Islands, Biden teased reporters about his reelection candidacy.
“There’s an election coming up? … I didn’t know that,” the president joked.
