(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a new case of leftist censorship, David Elliott, a long-standing news anchor, was abruptly dismissed from WLOX for daring to share his political views online, which were critical of Kamala Harris and her supporters.

Elliott’s departure underscores the dangerous intersection of journalistic objectivity and personal expression in today’s social media-driven world.

The controversy began when David Elliott, a veteran news anchor at WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi, shared commentary videos criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris’s supporters, suggesting they stay home on Election Day.

He announced his termination through a Facebook post stating, “I’m no longer at WLOX as of 10-25-24. The corporation doesn’t like my political views.”

Elliott hosted his videos on X, formerly Twitter, to target audiences he alleged were consumed by hatred towards former President Trump, urging them not to vote for Harris, Newsweek reports.

Highlighting the absurdity of media bias, Elliott remarked, “This is so unlike me because I’m usually a vote, vote, vote guy. But if your hatred for Donald Trump is so strong—that’s kind of a sickness by the way—but if it’s so strong that you’re planning to go in that voting booth and vote for Kamala Harris—do you listen to her?”

Mississippi, a state prone to Republican victories, hardly seemed the place where Elliott’s political musings would cause such drastic measures.

His dismissals spotlight the precarious balance media personalities must navigate between corporate policies and free speech.

WLOX did not comment on the firing, which aligns with the industry’s typical reluctance to allow journalists to express personal political endorsements online.

Elliott’s defense centers on the claim that his contentious posts were mere satire, not intended as factual journalism.

“I don’t consider social media journalism. Social media is a toy. I have fun. I play. I look at it as satire,” he said.

Despite working at WLOX for nearly 40 years and joking about remaining in his anchor chair for the rest of his life, Elliott found himself out of a job for words spoken in jest.

Elliott had planned to leave WLOX at the year’s end, with potential opportunities on the horizon.

His use of social media platforms aimed to engage audiences outside his news station’s reach, without WLOX’s branding, sparking conversations that challenge mainstream media’s silence.

Ensuring freedom of speech and personal expression without corporates pulling the plug is crucial for media integrity and public trust.
