(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In one of the most outrageous findings lately, a striking number of Americans – 26 million – support using violence against Donald Trump to prevent his return to the White House, a disturbing situation against the backdrop of the two recent attempts on his life.
This finding is referenced by a constitutional expert, who cautions that those entertaining such extreme thoughts might themselves become targets of extremists.
The data comes from political science professor Robert Pape’s study titled “Political Violence and the Election: Assessing the threat from the Left and the Right.”
According to the study’s results from June, with a margin of error around 3%, these 26 million Americans believe that “the use of force is justified to prevent Trump from becoming president.”
Interestingly, the study also highlights a group of approximately 18 million who believe force is justified to “restore Trump to the presidency.”
These individuals are described in the study as “active, dangerous” with “growth potential.” Notably, nine million of them are gun owners, and five million have participated in a protest in the past year.
According to law professor Jonathan Turley, this is a threatening situation, WND reports.
He mentioned several politicians collaborating with leftist groups, some of which are considered extreme.
“These politicians are playing a dangerous game in toying with groups like Antifa, which will not stop at threatening their opponents. Politicians like (Minneapolis council member Jeremiah) Ellison could easily find themselves the next target as groups seek to ‘strike fear in the heart’ of the establishment,” Turley said.
He described the poll results as “a chilling account of the growing radicalism in America, particularly after the second foiled assassination attempt of former president Donald Trump.”
Subsequently, various organizations have compiled extensive lists of individuals, including politicians, celebrities, and officials, who have made threats against Trump, with some even urging a suspected assassin to improve his shooting skills to ensure he does not miss again.
“For some, violent language can become violent action. There is a normalization that can occur as extreme actions become more acceptable to more and more citizens,” Turley observed.
He also highlighted the “unrelenting claims of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and others that democracy is about to die in America,” explaining that “some now feel a license to commit criminal acts in the name of ‘saving democracy.’”
Notably, Hillary Clinton, despite the second assassination attempt against Trump, continued to assert that Trump is a threat.
“It is the ultimate form of self-delusion that one saves democracy by committing political violence against those with whom you disagree,” Turley concluded.
