In what can only be described as a horrific event, 13 people were trampled to death trying to escape a party in a Peruvian nightclub raided by police because, under the current COVID-19 state of emergency in Peru, large gatherings are illegal.
According to ABC News, “[t]here were approximately 120 people at the Thomas Restobar nightclub in Los Olivos, just north of Lima, when police arrived to the scene.”
Why did the police arrive? Because someone called them to report the “illegal” party.
Now, 13 people are dead and “another six people were injured, including three police officers who were trying to help people who were trapped inside.”
