(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Here at Red Alert News, we have many friends who are career law enforcement professionals. Many of these friendships go back more than 30 years and range from chiefs of police to rank and file officers.
So, when we saw the following report about what police officers believe is behind the soaring murder rate in the United States of America, it rang true.
It rings true because we’ve been hearing the same opinions from our friends in the police profession.
According to reporting by Newsmax in a piece headlined “Police Association: Murder Rate Will Continue to Rise Due to Anti-Cop Rhetoric”:
“The increase in homicides nationwide is directly linked to hostility toward police, a spokeswoman for the National Police Association says.
“Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith made her comments to The Washington Times.
“‘I do believe that homicide rates will continue to increase as long as the vilification of law enforcement continues,’ she said.
“The police association is ‘hopeful’ that Americans fully realize ‘that the police are not the problem; criminals, bail reform, and lax prosecutions are,’ Brantner Smith said.”
And, just how bad is the murder rate in the United States of America?
“FBI statistics show homicides soared by almost 30% in 2020, compared to the previous year, from 16,669 to 21,570.”
