(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Rekindling the memory of a tragedy that stunned the nation, previously unknown footage of the aftermath of President John Kennedy’s assassination has been discovered, and has fetched a hefty price at auction, raking in $137,500.

The 8 mm film documenting the immediate aftermath of President John F. Kennedy’s fatal shooting has once again brought the somber events of November 22, 1963, to the forefront.

Who bought this piece of history, however, remains a mystery.

The film, capturing President Kennedy’s motorcade racing towards Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, was shot by Dale Carpenter Sr.

In a remarkable stroke of history preservation, Carpenter’s grandson, James Gates, found the film among other family memorabilia stored in a milk crate around 2010.

Now, this poignant relic has re-emerged to remind the nation of the urgency and heartbreak of that fateful day.

Boston’s RR Auction facilitated the sale of the color 8 mm home film, though the buyer prefers to stay anonymous.

The footage begins with Carpenter missing the president’s limousine but capturing other vehicles in the motorcade on Lemmon Avenue.

The film also features intense scenes of the motorcade speeding down Interstate 35 after the shots that changed the nation.

Indeed, the shots were fired as the motorcade passed through Dealey Plaza, where Lee Harvey Oswald was positioned in the Texas School Book Depository.

The footage also includes the harrowing image of Secret Service Agent Clint Hill standing over the injured president and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in their limousine.

The president was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital shortly after his arrival.

Bobby Livingston, executive vice president of the auction house, said that the film “provides a gripping sense of urgency and heartbreak,” cited by WBOC.

While James Gates initially found the film and other home movies underwhelming, he was shocked by the footage depicting I-35.

He remarked on his surprising discovery, “That was shocking,” underlining how the film’s significant moments captured a pivotal time in American history.

Though RR Auction released still photos from the film, the actual video remains unreleased to the public.
