(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Based on court documents and reports from law enforcement, two illegal aliens from Guatemala, Julio Alvarado-Dubon, age 52, and Alberto Balacarcel, age 38, allegedly planned to carry out a mass shooting on July 4th during the annual Independence Day fireworks at the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater in Richmond, Virginia.
According to law enforcement, a phone tip from an individual who overheard the plan led to the arrests of the two men.
According to the Associated Press in “Police: July 4 mass shooting thwarted in Virginia’s capital”:
“Police in Richmond, Virginia, said Wednesday that they thwarted a planned July 4 mass shooting after receiving a tip that led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of multiple guns — an announcement that came just two days after a deadly mass shooting on the holiday in a Chicago suburb.
“A “hero citizen” overheard a conversation indicating there was an attack being planned on an Independence Day celebration in the capital city and called police to report it, Police Chief Gerald Smith said at a news conference. The caller said the attack was planned for the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater, where an annual fireworks show is held, Smith said.”
According to Chief Smith, “One phone call saved numerous lives on the Fourth of July.”
Currently, the two men are charged with being non-U.S. citizens in possession of a firearm, according to Chief Smith, who was aided in the investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Smith indicated additional charges might be filed.
