Now that President Donald Trump has nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, the odds that Roe v. Wade (the 1973 landmark decision that made abortion legal) will be overturned have never been higher. Barring any surprise revelations about Judge Barrett during the Senate confirmation process, she is all but certain to be confirmed and seated on the Supreme Court before the November 3rd presidential election and in time to decide a number of cases involving abortion that may come before the Court during the next year.
