(TheRedAlertNews.com) – A giant spike in the number of terror watchlist encounters at the US-Mexican border over the past year indicates Islamist terrorists may be taking advantage of America’s unsecured borders on President Joe Biden’s watch.
The number of suspected terrorists caught at the Southern Border this fiscal year after infiltrating the United States is triple the total for the previous five years.
Seventy-eight terror watchlist individuals were apprehended after crossing into the US from Mexico in the first 11 months of the 2022 fiscal year, which started on October 1, 2021, and will end on September 30.
The data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a Department of Homeland Security, shows a fivefold increase compared with the 2021 fiscal year when 15 suspected terrorists were arrested between ports of entry, The Daily Caller reported.
In the preceding years, there were barely any terror watchlist suspects who thought it would be feasible to infiltrate the United States via the border with Mexico: 3 in 2020, 0 in 2019, 6 in 2018, and 2 in 2017.
Potential or real collaboration between the Mexican drug cartels and Islamist terrorist groups from the Middle East – for instance, al-Qaeda, the Islamic State (ISIS), the Taliban, and Hamas, among others, have been highly concerning for the United States.
In February, Mexican law enforcement officials warned in a New York Post report that one of the most powerful drug cartels in the country, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), is using jihadist “technical advisers” from the Middle East.
The former was said to be learning assassination techniques from the latter – including using landmines and explosive-laden drones, which Middle Eastern terrorists have perfected.
For the first time in the history of the United States, more than 2.1 million illegal immigrants have been caught by the nation’s law enforcement in the 2022 fiscal year, which is just through August, with one month left to go. That does not include an unknown number of gotaways.
Almost 5 million illegals came to the United States in the first 1.5 years of Biden’s presidency, a number that has since been surpassed. The CBP data showed 3.4 million got apprehended at the Southern Border, 500,000 – at other points of entry, and another nearly 1 million are estimated to be gotaways who were never arrested.
In a television interview on September 11, 21 years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Biden’s Vice President Kamala Harris claimed that “the border is secure.”
