TODAY: It Couldn’t Be Closer

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In new evidence that the 2024 presidential election will be one of the most closely contested ever, a public opinion poll has found that the race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris practically couldn’t be closer in swing states.

While Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris currently holds a slight edge with a 3-point lead in the latest nationwide CBS News poll, her standing against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the crucial battleground states is less secure, showing a 50-50 tie, Newsmax reports.

The states at the heart of this electoral contention are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

These swing states are pivotal in determining the outcome of the election, and as per the latest polls, the race there remains highly competitive.

This week’s Democrat National Convention in Chicago presents a significant opportunity for voters to further assess Harris’s candidacy in comparison to Trump.

Notably, while Trump’s political stances are well known to approximately 90% of voters, about one-third remain uncertain about Harris’s positions.

Interestingly, the poll indicates that voters who perceive her views as similar to those of President Joe Biden tend to support Trump instead.

However, Harris appears to have greater appeal among voters who believe her views diverge from Biden’s.

The strategy for Harris and the Democratic Party seems to be to emphasize these differences, potentially distancing her from the policies of the last three and a half years.

Many political analysts suggest that this could be a strategic move to shift away from the past administration’s policies.

GOP vice-presidential candidate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, expressed skepticism about Harris’s ability to address economic issues, specifically inflation, given her tenure as vice president.

“Americans just don’t buy the idea that Kamala Harris, who’s been vice president for 3 1/2 years, is somehow going to tackle the inflation crisis in a way tomorrow that she hasn’t for the past 1,300 days,” he said on Fox News Sunday.

“Giving Kamala Harris control over inflation policy, Shannon, it’s like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over human trafficking policy. The American people are much smarter than that. They don’t buy the idea that Kamala Harris represents a fresh start,” he added.

The CBS News/YouGov poll, which involved 3,258 registered voters nationwide from August 14-16, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.1 percentage points.
