(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas has finally confirmed and admitted what many Americans believe is obvious.
As many readers will recall, Thomas was the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA title when she won the gold medal in the 500-yard freestyle during the NCAA championships earlier this year.
In fact, Thomas was the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA championship in any sport.
Now, as unilad.co.uk reports, “In an interview with Good Morning America, [Thomas] also explained that during her transition she lost muscle mass, which she says made her ’a lot weaker and a lot, a lot slower in the water.’” [emphasis added]
While that acknowledgment of loss of muscle mass by men transitioning to women seems obvious to most, Thomas didn’t acknowledge that given her size and strength when she was a man, she still dwarfed almost all competitors in women’s swimming events.
In fact, during the same interview, she claimed, “Trans women are not a threat to women’s sport.”
The fact that Thomas won the NCAA championship in her sport as a trans woman would, arguably, indicate otherwise.
What is your opinion about transgender athlete/swimmer Lia Thomas? Do you think it is fair for non-transgender athletes to have to compete against transgender athletes? Why or why not? Please share your thoughts and views by emailing [email protected]. Thank you.
