(TheRedAlertNews.com) – As one of the most significant twists in the 2024 presidential race seems imminent, GOP nominee Donald Trump has declared that he would be “honored” to be endorsed by independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as Kennedy is expected to do that on Friday.
Trump spoke on Thursday, just one day prior to Kennedy’s scheduled event in Phoenix, where he is expected to elucidate his forthcoming political strategies.
It is speculated that Kennedy may withdraw from the presidential race and might endorse Trump, following suggestive comments from his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, during a podcast earlier in the week.
Trump conveyed his approval of this potential endorsement in a discussion with Fox & Friends.
“He is a very good person. If he endorsed me, I would be honored by it. I would be very honored by it. He really has his heart in the right place. He is a respected person,” the former president stated after RFK Jr.
Trump further reflected on Kennedy’s political affiliations and treatment by the Democratic Party.
“But, overall, I thought the Democrats, he was a Democrat, I don’t know what he is right now. But he was a Democrat. They treated him very badly. I think he would have, he goes around saying he would have beaten Biden in the primary. I think there was a good chance,” he elaborated.
Reports on Wednesday from various sources indicated that Kennedy planned to exit the race by week’s end, although Kennedy himself neither confirmed nor denied these reports.
Also on Friday, Trump is slated to host a campaign rally in Glendale, Arizona, which is in close proximity to Phoenix.
This parallel scheduling further fuels conjecture about Kennedy’s possible endorsement of Trump.
Despite their previous competition, Trump has maintained a comparatively cordial relationship with Kennedy, in contrast to President Joe Biden.
Trump acknowledged on Tuesday his openness to consider Kennedy for a significant role in his administration should he be reelected, praising Kennedy’s intellect and long-standing acquaintance.
“Certainly, he’s a brilliant guy and that I’ve known him for a long time,” Trump noted.
This week, Donald Trump Jr. speculated about Kennedy potentially assuming a significant intelligence or oversight role in a reelected Trump administration.
Following an assassination attempt on Trump last month, Kennedy disclosed that he had discussed with the former president about possibly overseeing health and medical issues in Trump’s second term.
