Trump is seeing an increase in support within this demographic, according to an analysis by CNN’s senior data reporter Harry Enten.

Enten discussed on CNN that the latest polling data, when compared to the same stage of the 2020 campaign, indicate Trump is poised to achieve an unprecedented level of support among black voters.

Specifically, Trump’s support has risen from 7% to 21%, a 14-point increase, while Biden’s support has decreased from 86% to 70%, a drop of 16 points, The Daily Wire reports.

“I keep looking for signs that this is going to go back to normal, and I don’t see it yet in the polling. If anything right now, we’re careening towards a historic performance for a Republican presidential candidate the likes of which we have not seen in six decades,” Enten remarked.

Further, Enten noted that Biden is losing most of his support among black voters under the age of 50.

While Biden still holds a 37-point lead over Trump in this group, it represents a significant decline from his 80-point advantage at the same point in the 2020 campaign.

“I’ve just never seen anything like this. I’m like speechless,” said Enten, reflecting on the data.

“Because you always look at history and you go, ‘okay, this is a historic moment.’ If this polling is anywhere near correct, we are looking at a historic moment right now where black voters under the age of 50, which have historically been such a big part of the Democratic coalition, are leaving in droves,” the analyst added.

In contrast, among black voters over 50, Biden’s advantage has decreased slightly from +83 over Trump in 2020 to +74 over Trump currently.

Over the weekend, Trump engaged directly with black voters in an effort to bolster his support. He participated in a roundtable discussion with community and religious leaders in Detroit at 180 Church, where he heard their frustrations and concerns about the Biden administration.

A pastor at the event expressed gratitude to Trump for visiting, noting that neither President Joe Biden nor former President Barack Obama had visited “the hood.”

At the same event, the Trump campaign launched its black voter coalition.

The former president was accompanied by prominent black political figures, including former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson, Rep. John James (R-MI), and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).

“Historic rates of Black voters now support President Trump, and the reason is simple: Black voters know that President Trump is the only presidential candidate who can deliver results on day one because he already has,” the Trump campaign highlighted.
