(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Striking back against Joe Biden’s last-minute acts in office, President Trump has terminated the jobs of twenty immigration judges.

These judges, appointed by the Biden administration, have been abruptly removed in what seems to be a continuation of Trump’s aggressive stance on immigration policy and federal government reduction.
The question is what this means for the future of the immigration system already burdened with a 3.7 million case backlog.
The Trump administration’s decision to remove these judges aligns with its consistent efforts to reshape the U.S. immigration system.
The termination affected 13 judges hired in the closing days of the Biden presidency, along with seven assistant chief immigration judges.
The firings came without any explanation, according to a union official, further raising eyebrows across the nation.
The immigration courts are overwhelmed with cases, leading to an enormous backlog.
Many asylum cases are taking years before they see resolution.
This backlog contributes to the illegal immigration issue as cases languish, leaving illegal immigrants in limbo.
Despite this, the Trump administration fired these judges at a time when there is bipartisan support to increase their number and support staff, according to NBC Washington.
The Trump administration’s firing of five top court officials, including the acting director, Mary Cheng, is part of a pattern consistent with mass deportation priorities and reducing the federal government’s size.
Sirce Owen, the current leader, has spearheaded reversals of Biden policies, indicating a clear shift back towards Trump’s preferred practices.
The firings contradict President Trump’s campaign promise to expand the number of immigration judges—a promise made to tackle the case backlog.
Matthew Biggs of the union calls the moves inexplicable and contrary to what was promised.
One judge, Kerry E. Doyle, shared her disappointment online, highlighting her extensive experience in immigration law that did not save her from the political fallout.
“Unfortunately, I was unable to avoid the political pink slip. This firing occurred despite the fact that among my peers in my court, I had the longest and most extensive experience in immigration law,” she noted.
Reports point out that the firings are consistent with administration priorities but that such actions further complicate the court dynamic.
