(TheRedAlertNews.com) – It’s a safe bet that 100 years from now, historians will be looking back and writing about the deep controversy surrounding the vaccines that pharmaceutical companies developed to combat the coronavirus labeled COVID-19 – a virus that ignited a worldwide pandemic, killing millions around the globe. It’s also a safe bet that today’s news will deepen the controversy concerning vaccines even further.
Today, Pfizer and BioNTech submitted an official request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to get the green light to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to children as young as five years old on an emergency use authorization basis. If approved and granted by the FDA, this would lower the allowable age for vaccination from 12 to 5. Currently, the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee is scheduled to hold a public examination of the data submitted by Pfizer and BioNTech on October 26th.

Given the level of controversy and public discord that has been present since the first vaccine was made available for adults, and given how that discord increased when the FDA followed up by authorizing the vaccine for children as young as 12 on an emergency use basis, public health officials are anticipating that there may be extreme pushback to vaccinating children as young as five given that the vaccine will only have emergency use authorization – not full authorization.
This pushback should come as no surprise to elected officials. Many parents believe it’s one thing for adults to be vaccinated with what many believe is still an experimental vaccine, while it’s quite different to vaccinate young children with that same vaccine.
