(TheRedAlertNews.com) As you watch and digest the video below of White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during one of her daily press briefings, keep in mind that – stating the obvious – she, like all White House Press Secretaries, speaks for whoever is the President of the United States at that particular moment in time.
That’s a long-winded way of saying, quite simply, Psaki speaks for President Joe Biden.
So, when you watch Psaki use the term “we” in the video below, you should immediately understand that she is referencing Biden and his administration.
Why does this matter?
Because Psaki just made what more than a few political pundits find to be a ludicrous argument that when taxes are raised on businesses, they shouldn’t raise the prices of their products and services. [Remember, many small business owners are taxed as individuals]
Specifically, when asked by a reporter (watch the full video below), and we’re paraphrasing here, to respond to congressional Republicans who argue taxes will go up on average Americans – not just the wealthy as Biden has promised – because tax increases at any level get passed on to consumers, Psaki stated:
“Obviously, the President’s commitment remains, not raising taxes for anyone making less than $400,000 a year. There are some…who argue that, in the past, companies have passed on these costs to consumers…we feel that that’s unfair and absurd, and the American people would not stand for that.” [transcription, editing, and emphasis by Red Alert News editor]
In response to this position of Biden and his administration, conservative commentator Jonah Goldberg tweeted: “This is amazing. I mean it’s just a thing that happens. If a restaurant has a profit margin of $9K a month and you raise its taxes by $10K a month, do you think the owner will say ‘damn, we gotta lose money every month’? or do you think they’ll raise prices?”
Here’s the video of Psaki.
