Scotland’s iconic Turnberry Golf Resort is reeling from an audacious act of vandalism.
Pro-Palestinian activists targeted the golf course and clubhouse, leaving behind slogans like “Gaza is not 4 sale” spray-painted across the facility.
The group’s destructive actions included tearing up parts of the manicured greens, leaving a scar not only on the landscape but on Trump’s prized possession.
The timing couldn’t be more significant. This protest came as a response to Donald Trump’s controversial proposal to resettle the Palestinian population from Gaza.
It appears the act of vandalism was meant to emphasize resistance to Trump’s perceived interference in Middle-Eastern affairs.
Palestine Action, the group responsible, shared their exploits on social media, using this platform to denounce Trump’s Gaza policies directly.
Scottish authorities are currently investigating the incident, which occurred early Saturday morning, leaving behind a trail of damage and a political statement that reverberates beyond the resort’s gates.
Nevertheless, the response from the Trump camp was swift and to the point, labeling the vandalism as a “childish, criminal act,” BBC reports.
This further ignites debate over Trump’s handling of the Gaza situation and the resulting backlash.
The Turnberry resort, acquired by Trump in 2014, has undergone significant renovations and is part of the British Open golf course rotation.
However, the British Open has yet to return to Turnberry since the acquisition.
This event will likely not aid its standing in the golfing world, as the resort’s ability to host key events is now in further question.
To add insult to injury, Palestine Action asserted that they orchestrated the vandalism to illustrate that Trump’s properties themselves are not safe from acts of resistance.
It’s a statement of defiance against Trump’s previous proposal aiming to solve decades-long conflicts with redevelopment plans, which were flatly rejected by Palestinians, causing widespread backlash.
“To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance,” Palestine Action said.
