“A Texas high school football player, angered after being ejected from a game, charged onto the field and bowled over a referee Thursday night,” according to the New York Post and multiple other news sources.
“Senior defensive lineman Emmanuel Duron of Edinburg High School came running from the sideline area after the referee announced the ejection, slamming into the official during the first half of the zone play-in game against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo.
“Duron was escorted from the stadium by police officers.
“The Monitor of McAllen reported that the referee was evaluated for a concussion by medical personnel at the stadium.”

That young man showed no respect for the rules of the game nor for the referee. He definitely assaulted and battered the man but must be considered innocent until proven guilty. It is appropriate that he was charged. Even though tackling players during a game isn’t considered a crime, intentionally knocking the ref down is.
Should be disqualified from ever being able to participate in any organized sports again. Blindside a probably volunteer ref because he cant controll his emotions. Probably on performance enhansers. They make ya more aggressive and emotional. Charged at the very least.

Yep, jail time for this tough guy. Was able to blindside the ref and perhaps hurt him very seriously! I understand he was making a statement about being rough and tough. Should be interesting to see how rough and tough he is out in the yard with his fellow inmates. I am sure they can show him a trick or two about being tough. And he won’t be blindsided as he learns.

Sadly; most of these young people only learn more evil in jail. Many states have a form of boot camp for minors. I know a man who worked as a drill instructor in one such camp until he retired, and he said many of these kids have turned bad because they have never had any real discipline at home.

Of course, this young man should be punished appropriately. I truly hope that the NFL and management are proud of the example they are setting for young people as to how the game is played. My understanding is the team will play no more football this season. Assault charges have been filed. I’m sure he will be suspended or go to boot camp as punishment from school, but he will have to deal with the reality of the assault charge. I’m not sure the entire team should be punished for his actions as this ends their run during playoffs.
It appears to me the coach knew what was going to happen and was running after him in an attempt to stop the assault on the referee.
