Tech billionaire Elon Musk has raised eyebrows among conservatives and patriots with his latest criticism of President Trump, as he is disappointed to see the GOP’s massive spending bill.
Watch the video below.
Musk has publicly broken with President Trump over the massive “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” warning it undermines his work cutting government waste.
The billionaire entrepreneur who leads Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) expressed disappointment that the multi-trillion dollar legislation increases the deficit rather than reduces it.
Musk’s comments came during an upcoming CBS Sunday Morning interview set to air on June 1, where he directly criticized the Republican spending bill that recently passed through the House.
The tech mogul’s rebuke marks a significant split from the President, who has championed the legislation as a signature policy despite opposition from fiscal conservatives within his own party.
“I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decrease it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk stated in the interview.
"I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful. But I don't know if it could be both."

Now heading to the Senate, the legislation would extend the 2017 tax cuts, increase defense spending, fund mass deportations, and raise the debt ceiling by $4 trillion.
According to projections, it could increase the federal deficit by approximately $600 billion in the next fiscal year alone and add a staggering $3.8 trillion to the national debt over the next decade.
Musk’s DOGE initiative has reportedly saved American taxpayers $170 billion by targeting government waste and redundancy.
The program has led to substantial government downsizing, with approximately 275,000 positions eliminated. The new spending package now appears to threaten these efforts to drain the swamp.
The national debt currently stands at an alarming $36.2 trillion, with the deficit expected to approach $2 trillion by the end of 2025.
These mounting financial concerns are driving Musk’s public criticism, despite his previous close alliance with the President.
While Trump and congressional GOPs argue the bill will stimulate economic growth to offset tax cuts, Musk’s comments suggest he remains unconvinced.
The legislation faces strong opposition in the Senate, where fiscal conservatives have expressed similar concerns about its impact on America’s financial future.
Musk, who has been a frequent presence in the White House since Trump’s election, now characterizes the federal bureaucracy as “much worse than I realized.”
This growing disillusionment is driving his decision to reduce his involvement with DOGE and refocus on his companies, including X, Tesla, and SpaceX.
The billionaire previously faced backlash over his role in DOGE, including protests and sales drops at Tesla.
However, he has consistently defended his actions as necessary to address fraud and abuse in federal spending – work that he now sees threatened by the very administration that appointed him.
As this rift between two of America’s most powerful figures develops, patriots concerned about government spending and the national debt will be watching closely to see if Trump reconsiders his approach or if Musk fully distances himself from the administration’s fiscal policies.
